How do subatomic particles which are totally opposite to their properties, exist in the universe? Conversely, how does the universe accommodate the sub-particles which do not abide by its laws? The universe cannot be described by two good theories, each of which is incompatible with the other. The universe exists as a single place therefore there must be a single consistent theory describing it, if at all. We can call this the Theory of Universe or Theory of Everything (TOE) or Grand Unified Theory (GUT) or Unified theory of Fields.
The Grand Unified Theory (GUT)- A single theory explaining the co-existence of these two opposing forces, still remains the biggest challenge for the scientific community. What made the quest of the Unified Theory so important? Read the learning module to explore more...
