What is SAT?

The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), earlier known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test is a 3 hour long standardized admission test used by most colleges in the United States. The entrance test is an important aspect affecting college admissions and aims to help colleges evaluate the preparedness of high school students for college by testing their written, mathematical, and verbal abilities and providing a common reference point to compare and select their candidates. With time, universities in more and more countries have started accepting SAT scores for their college admissions, including Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, and even India.

Why SAT?

There can be many benefits of SAT for high school students, the most important one being getting into a good college for pursuing an Undergraduate degree. The test does not have a science section as is built specially to test the students’ aptitude and verbal abilities, and is accepted by a wide range of colleges and programs.

Another great benefit that SAT tests come with is scholarships. Students can avail scholarships in a number of universities with a high SAT score, even if the test is optional for getting through the admission process. A high SAT score can also help you in profile building and cover up low grades from the past.

Why Profile Building?

With the upcoming of new-generation private colleges in liberal arts and engineering apart from the old ones in the likes of IITs, NITs, State Universities and National Universities (Delhi University, JNU etc.), overall admission assessment process has changed. The newer ones are focusing on holistic assessment of student which includes academics, SAT scores and profile. Over the few years the board exam marks have ceased to be a differentiator with close to 2 million students getting above 90% marks. Therefore, overall profile of the student has emerged as the only yard stick to create differentiation. This in turn, is pushing the old institutions to move towards holistic assessment from uni-directional exam-based process. ACadru is only one such multi-disciplinary platform available which helps you to create strong profiles to get into these competitive colleges.
